Vista Capable, Processor, GFX Card and HD BluRay for $45? 7863_large_nvidia

Seems that the trend for producing low cost parts with good features is set to continue. The other day Nvidia slated Intel for making crap graphics chips http://www.dailytech.com/NVIDIA+CEO+Were+Going+to+Open+a+Can+of+Whoop+Ass/article11448.htm and now they reckon they can topple them here too.

Quote :
During NVIDIA's financial analyst meeting today, the company revealed plans for what it calls "The World's Most Affordable Vista Premium PC". The platform use a VIA Isaiah processor coupled with an integrated NVIDIA chipset. NVIDIA reckons that the Isaiah + NVIDIA IGP combination is good for a total of 36 GFLOPS in comparison to a mere 6.4 GFLOPS for a comparable Celeron-based system with an Intel 945 IGP/ICH4 chipset.

NVIDIA also claims that its platform will be Windows Vista Premium capable, support Blu-ray HD and DX10, and cost less than $45.

I hope they do it, this will offer highly capable pc's to a much larger market of people who up till now havent been able to buy a computer or see little need for one.

Seems they finally actually managed it Smile

The upcoming Intel Essential Series D945GCLF2 mini-ITX motherboard features a dual-core 1.6GHz Atom 330 processor and costs around 64EUR.
The board/CPU combo costs €62, some €15 more than the single-core Atom 230 based board. Intel's Atom 330 is clocked at 1.6GHz, just like its single core sibling, and so far this is the only version out there. Don't expect this to change anytime soon.

The new board features VGA, 6x USB 2.0, Gb LAN, 2x SATA, 2.0 Audio and one PCI slot and comes with a three-year warranty if you go for the retail pack. The motherboard should be available by late August.

Talk about the ultimate small pc for media centre stuff, or even a small portable desktop capable of playing games with a gfx stuck in? The pc could potentially be tiny, small enough to fit in a rocket pouch and teamed up with a tiny projector, could be loads of fun.

Vista Capable, Processor, GFX Card and HD BluRay for $45? Imageview

Here is the new tiny ECS motherboard, which includes a dual core Atom processor, ethernet, onboard gfx and sound, capable of HD video and sound, plus all the normal bog basic PC stuff.

It literally look no more than about 5 inches square and costs less than 100 USD, i reckon it will cost about 70 quid when launched here and all you would need to do is stick it in a box with some ram and a HDD, afor a cheap feature packed media pc or lightweight 'going-on-tour'.

You know, sometimes the smallest stuff is just so much fun. Sure we are Guru3D.com' we test the most high-end hardware gear persistently. But you know what, that by itself also a good reason to look at the other end of the scope every once in a while to get back to reality. And one of these realities is obviously that not everybody plays games. Not everybody needs massive compute performance. No Sir, there are a lot of you out there who would just like a modest Net PC on which they can browse the web, fill out a spreadsheet type in a Word document, listen to some MP3s. Average basic stuff and nothing more, and why should you pay top dollar for that ?

Well, ECS now offers a complete mainboard based on the new revised dual-core Atom 330 processor.

Intel Atom is the brand name for a line of x86 and x86-64 CPUs from Intel, formerly known under the code-names Silverthorne and Diamondville. These processors were initially designed for ultra-mobile PCs, smart phones, and other portable low-power applications. These little processors; however, became so popular that they actually moved into the desktop PC arena.

Take this mainboard from ECS for example. It comes with an integrated Dual Core Atom 330 processor. It has integrated sound, 10/100 Ethernet and integrated graphics. Really all you need to do is insert a slice of DDR2 533 memory and connect a HD, and you are on the web ... browsing at fairly normal speeds, listening to songs, or watching a DVD ... heck it all works fine on that Intel Atom 330 for sure. Next to that, the power consumption is obviously amazing. The platform completely maxed out merely utilizes 55 Watts, and half of that your PSU will account for all by itself.

Interesting for sure, as really these mainboards, including the processor, only cost somewhere inbetween 75 maybe 99 USD. So don't expect a high performance review today, we're downtown and will merely show some technology that we find fascinating.

Vista Capable, Processor, GFX Card and HD BluRay for $45? Ev-itl-dq45ek1

Fifty quid, i think its fan dabby dozy. It has an Intel Atom processor already fitted, onboard gfx and sound and would make an ideal start for a really cheap media pc or small form factor.
