| Next money making scam? Thats right ..... Ultra HD. - Quote :
- Just as you got used to using the term ‘HD’ as the new standard for broadcasting and home entertainment, those damned forwarding thinking boffins in Japan go and move the goalposts.
Super Hi-Vision, or Ultra High Definition Video (UHDV) is still in the experimental phase, but promises pictures sixteen times bigger than today’s maximum 1080p format.
That’s a maximum resolution of 7680x4320 and a whopping 33 million pixels.
The technology has been demonstrated before but will feature in live broadcasts for the first time this year, with material coming from a camera set up in London. From here it’ll be sent to a server in Italy, mixed with footage from Japan and beamed out by a projector.
Of course sound is of paramount importance when it comes to generating an atmosphere, so how does 22.2 surround grab you? A pair of subs and an array of speakers above and below ear level promise to offer the ultimate experience, though don’t expect the missus to be too keen with you setting one up in the living room.
If , like me, you cant honestly tell the difference from going to normal to HD then there is now way you will notice much with this either. I sincerely hope it never takes off and people vote with their feet, but you know they won't | |
