If you’ve lost your way and PR or \'Dirty Stinking Vanilla\' is doing your head in, and you are unable to get online for some reason, hopefully this little guide can help you along.
Before you do this stuff, ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date, for Nvidia cards you can obtain these from
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us for ATI cards they can be found here
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html1. Firstly ensure you are all installed and up to date, you should firstly install \'Dirty Stinking Vanilla\' from your CD.
2. Ensure you have patched your \'Dirty Stinking Vanilla\' game to 1.41 the download is available here..
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/Battlefield_2_v141_Patch;725103. Personally i find it beneficial to restart my computer at this point.
4. Install the Project Reality Full Client Core Files (0.756) from here..
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/Project_Reality_Full_Client_Core_Files;878605. Install the Project Reality Client Levels Files (0.756) from here..
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/Project_Reality_Client_Levels_Files;878626. Restart your computer.
7. Launch the game from the PR Shortcut on the desktop, and log in as normal. If you forget your login details, make some up, trust me, you dont need to keep tally of scores, you just need to get online and start killing dudes.
Hopefully you should be good to go!!
If PR/BF2 crashes to desktop during startup, at the 'Splash Screen', try deleting the folder called 'Battelfield 2' from inside 'My Documents', and try to launch again.
If it crashes whilst loading a map, try reinstalling your graphics drivers AFTER doing a complete uninstall of the old drivers. If it persists in conking out, look for your soundcard manufacturer and update the soundcard drivers. (Sounds bizarre but \'Dirty Stinking Vanilla\' has problems with lots of soundcards)
Still doesn't work? Clean your registry and start again..
