| Gents, as i`m sure that in your time serving, you or close friends have been involved with some kind of fund raising, I`m am running in something called the Elephant Run, www.elephantrun.co.ukIt is in aid of the "Not Forgotten" Assosiation this charity has been around since 1920 and they do very simalar work like the charity help for heros, but have been going longer, There are thousands of disabled ex-servicemen and women in this country. They have been injured in conflicts around the globe over many decades. Now most of them are elderly and often frail and although their essential needs may be provided for, The "Not Forgotten" Association is able to give them some of the "extras" which most of us take for granted, something to look forward to – something to make life worth living. Those eligible are ex-service or serving men and women who have a War Pension or are in receipt of compensation from the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or who are currently suffering from some form of ill-health. We ensure that they are not forgotten by providing them things which brings a little happiness and joy into their lives. The credit crunch has hit this charity hard, they have done very little fundraising in the past but have had to ask for help to continue there very important and needed work. http://www.nfassociation.org/I have had some very nice words of support with some very kind donations, If you could please dig deep and ANYTHING you can spare donate to the team so we can provide a hopfully large cheque to the charity within the next few weeks. http://www.justgiving.com/lightning-boltsThanks very much, Sgt Chris Deacon AKA (Joey_Deacs) | |

| Thanks for the comments so far, If any of you are wanting to donate we have a team donation site, though Just giving they are a Government backed sceme, and we pay all our funds into this account it means that not only is there a list of who has kindly donated, but the "Not Forgotten" Assosiation get all the money donated and also get the extra Gift aid also. Yes as a few have said their web page isn`t the best they are currently working on it, I have spoke to the director a Col (Ret) and they are lets say behind the times I have offered my help on getting the charity in the internet eye Facebook twitter ect ect they are doing some work but have very little idea on how best to got around it. The charity in the past has ran on donations by people just giving direct to them, not by activly going to find it but have been overshadowed by others in the media spot light. I have not long got back from my run this morning uhhh and man it`s seems to be getting harder every day the distance is increasing, i left at 0600 and ran 15 miles approx, a few more days before we leave so a few more miles needed to clock up. | |

| Last few days before the event we are leaving on wednesday to the Union Jack club in London were we will meet the other teams competing and receave our final brief from the organisers. This is also a great change to chat to the teams to find out tactics ect, we will be attending the pasta party before heading of for rest before the race start.
There is a lot of admin to do before hand to ensure we as a team can look after our selfs throught the day the days are cut into three, the first being Thursday 4th June after check in and the safety brief the Cheif of staff and the Mayor of London will pose for the media before starting the race, 0930 the race starts and we must cover 32 miles in this day.
Traning is going well so far must is getting harder by the day I dragged myself out of bed this morning but felt fine after a few miles, though I must admit I have to leave the dogs at home they no longer enjoying runnning with me! | |
