| gents if any of you are still available, I am trying to set up a LAN at my TA centre so that I can sell BF2Reality and ARMA Reality. I want to know the best computer at a budget inclusive of screen inclusive of game product, even if Force can use his influences within the gaming world to procure some copies.
I want to sell it as a training tool that each sqn can use to train against each other but i have to sell the initial product first, especially as money is an issue in all our budgets. I know that if they see it up and running and In can keep the costs low, I can get more recognition for the product and use it as a tool to recruit more young uns to our environment, you feedback is most welcome.
my plan in the short tern is to rebuild my laptop and just have PR BF2 running and show them in the media suite then hopeful it may get some interest.
Hope we all get back up and running soon, we have a unique clan it would be a shame to let it fall by the wayside...
Scutter..
Ta lads for any help....

| ARMA uses a hell of a lot of CPU so you may have to equate that into a budget.
Might be worthwhile popping down to your local PC world and have a chat with the manager. I know in the past some have offered forces discount and you would be sending quite a bit of cash their way.

| I am not too sure about procurement of computers, but i believe that we (MOD) have a procurement contract with Dell. Is it possible to bid as normal, but then use either regt'l or sqn PRI funds to buy GFX cards and RAM? either that, or bid for laptops. The laptops we are issued (again Dell) can handle COD (unofficially of course lol). If i recall correctly, i also managed JCove Lite (medium settings) on it when in the Gatehouse. If you have contact with a Sapper Design Cell, they will be able to help. Where is your center? I can give you the nearest Sapper unit. The only hindrance i think will be your business case as the laptops have that crap encryption programme. Just a thought. | |

| I know they have just updated a load of programmes for the DCCT. I would check out your nearest DCCT for the updated list. If your nearest DCCT is miles away, that might aid your business case further. | |
